Ashton Kutcher Starring as Steve Jobs in Movie

You knew it was coming. Steve Jobs is getting the inevitable heartfelt movie, designed to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling of familiarity with a recently deceased famous person. Covering the years between 1971 and 2001--when the iPod revolutionized the music industry--the movie will cover the rise and fall and rise of Steve Jobs.

Ashton Kutcher actually looks quite a bit like the early Steve Jobs, prior to his bout with illness.

Right now, very few details have leaked about the movie. We know the working title: “Jobs: Get Inspired” and we know the star. We know that the director is still fairly new to the field, having only directed a made-for-tv movie in 1997 and 2008’s forgettable “Swing Vote.” We know that it isn’t likely to be as critical of Steve Jobs as “The Social Network” was of Mark Zuckerberg, as seen in this quote from an interview with director Joshua Michael Stern:

Finally, do you believe that the family, friends and fans of Steve Jobs will appreciate the movie Jobs when it is released? We have purposed for the movie to be an accurate and inspirational portrayal of his fascinating life and the huge impact he had on the world, so yes we expect his family and friends to appreciate it.

But really, that’s about it. Who knows? It might end up being an update of the quite popular made-for-tv movie Pirates of Silicon Valley--which showcased the early days of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.

Or not. either way, the movie is going to make billions.
