Lisa Harouni- A primer on 3D printing
3D printing may be all the rage these days, but the technology is so general that it can be hard to find a specific use for it. In an absolutely wonderful TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) talk, Lisa Harouni gives a brief rundown of what the technology is, why it is important, and how it will likely shape the future.
If you are the least bit interested in technology, or even just have a passing interest in making stuff, you need to do yourself a favor and watch this video. Harouni does a good job of showing what makes 3d printers so cool, and why I am so excited that you can now buy them for as little as $350.00 . Sure, they may open a can of worms as far as regulation goes (interesting case study: 3d printed Settlers of Catan might not be illegal) but their potential is mind blowing. That is, if they don’t get regulated into oblivion.
