Xbox 720 & Microsoft's New Gaming Technology
While Microsoft may be somewhat behind in the smartphone world, they are the paving the way in the video game industry. Rumors have floated around online about a new technology called ‘IllumiRoom’ that was being tested and perfected by Microsoft. And while many rumors online are false, this rumor is completely true. Prepare for the next level of gaming.
Microsoft IllumiRoom
The Microsoft IllumiRoom is a new technology that is being developed by Microsoft. It uses projection technology that can span to cover most of a wall. In photos and videos, the IllumiRoom display covers the borders of the television, an entire full-size entertainment system, and some of the wall. (Remind any other geeks out there of the book Fahrenheit 451?) The company showed off this amazing new gaming development today at CES during the Samsung keynote.Xbox Kinect Technology
The IllumiRoom takes full advantage of the Kinect’s technology. Using the Kinect camera, it projects images outside of your television and maps your room. This creates a larger than life display of your game or movie, and makes the experience more life-like. Now, using the IlumiRoom, you can now feel as though you are truly inside of the game or movie. You can live life alongside the characters in your game/movie. Who needs theaters when you can experience movies like this in your own home? When Will It Be Released?
Microsoft did not state a release date, and it seems that this new technology will not be sold in stores anytime soon. It is still being tested in its entirety. It is said that this new technology will be released with the rumored Xbox 720, the name that many people have given Microsoft’s next gaming system.
Regardless of what Microsoft’s new gaming system will be named, however, this new technology would definitely make it a gamer’s fairytale. If the next console released by Microsoft comes with IllumiRoom, you can definitely expect it to sell like wildfire. More news about the release of the IllumiRoom will be given at CHI 2013 in Paris.
Excitement
Many in the gaming world are waiting in earnest expectation for the announcement of Microsoft’s new gaming system. A new system, many would agree, is definitely past due. And with the announcement of this new projection technology, the gaming world will certainly be waiting with desperate anticipation. Visions of a larger-than-life Halo experience are already floating around in my head.
