Amazon Studios is a bit different from normal script development companies. Amazon, in its usual flair for the web, decided to crowdsource the script writing process. Anyone can able to submit their script to the company, which will analyze and provide feedback. If they like the script, they can choose to option it for a $10,000 payout.

Two different pitches were optioned: “12 Princesses,” a fairy-tale adventure comedy, and “I Think My Facebook Friend is Dead,” a script about an introverted teen trying to save the life of a friend he has a crush on. You can see the script for “12 Princesses” here and the script for “I think my Facebook Friend is Dead”, prior rewrite, here.
Amazon has several other projects currently under development though all appear to be in the early screenwriting stage. Several even have professional writers on them. It seems like Amazon is taking its film studio quite seriously. But you know what they say: the best way to make a million dollars is to start with a billion and go into producing.
